With the villains attacking and the heroes caught off guard, the students of UA are in a rough spot trying to survive. Immediately after Dabi set the forest ablaze and a poisonous gas was released on the students, villain Magne, pulled Pixie-Bob toward herself, knocking the hero out. Kota, in his secret place, sees the burning forest as he thinks about his parents' death and Mandalay saying he'll understand their sacrifice one day. Elsewhere, Aizawa leads the failing students to Vlad King before Mandalay sends out a telepathic alert to everyone and he rushes out. Before he can make it far, he finds himself face to face with a fiery blast from Dabi. Back with the Pussycats, the villain Spinner introduces himself and prevents Magne from killing Pixie-Bob, noting Stain's philosophies. Recognizing Iida as one who defeated the Hero Killer, he moves to attack as Tiger becomes enraged at the thought of Magne killing Pixie-Bob when her life is flourishing. As the other students in the forest learn what happened, they band together as Momo creates gas masks for everyone conscious. Tetsutetsu brings some incapacitated students to Itsuka, and turns down her suggestion to leave with them. Noting how 1A pulled ahead of them, he is determined to fight back and learn from the crisis like their rival class did. Elsewhere in the forest, Todoroki and Bakugou, carrying another student, encounter the villain Moonfish on their way back to camp. Despite Mandalay telling the students to not engage, Bakugou becomes excited at the fighting opportunity. Like the students, Kota got Mandalay's message, just as the villain Muscular arrives. Recognizing him as the man who killed his parents, the team Water Hose, Kota tries to run but is trapped. Muscular attacks, but Midoriya, having realized Kota was at his secret place, rushes in at the last second to save the boy. His phone is broken in the process, and because he told no one what he was doing, he realizes he is Kota's only defense. The two remaining Pussycats take on Spinner and Magne, the former momentarily distracted when Mandalay uses her telepathic power on him. Before she can do much damage, Magne uses her magnetic ability to pull her, only for Tiger to join the fray. A concerned Mandalay points out that Ragdoll hasn't responded to her message like she normally would, and Magne smirks, hinting that something happened to her. Meanwhile, Muscular recognizes Midoriya, saying they're allowed to kill him, and asks where Bakugou is. As Midoriya wonders what they would want with Bakugou, Muscular is able to slam into him, breaking his left arm. Midoriya tries to counter, but Muscular reveals his quirk multiplies his power, causing his muscle fibers to burst from his skin. Calling Midoriya's ability an inferior version of his own, he begins pummeling the young hero. As Muscular mocks Midoriya's determination to save Kota, the latter throws a rock at the villain, asking if his parents were tortured like this as well. He says Muscular is what's wrong with society, and the villain counters with his own belief that the heroes dying was their own fault, as they wanted to stop what he wanted: to kill. To him, a real tragedy comes from people not keeping promises. With the villain distracted, Midoriya is able to lodge his arm into the muscle fibers in his arm and unleashes a full-powered punch. The force of Midoriya's attack blows Kota off the cliff, but the former grabs his shirt using his teeth.
Shocked at the damager Midoriya willingly sustained for him, Kota urges him to get back to camp, but the two get another surprise when they find that Midoriya's attack only manags to bust Muscular's prosthetic eye. The villain replaces his eye, saying Midoriya's attack was too predictable and he won't hold back anymore, leaving Midoriya rushing to think of a plan as he hops around with Kota on his back. Realizing he's tired from training and they'll never make it back to camp if they run, Midoriya determines his only option is to stand his ground, despite his busted arms. This final stand leads into the episode's climax, as Midoriya stares down the ever-growing Muscular, telling Kota to run when he hits. This episode, as the show typically does, further amps up the action started in the previous one. Though we don't see as much incredible combat due to the heroes being caught off guard and somewhat outmatched, scenes are tense as you wonder what will become of those who are cut off from everyone, especially Midoriya and Kota. Despite how far he's come after training with Gran Torino and learning to better harness One For All, Midoriya still doesn't know how best to use his power, and this time he's all alone. In the class' first crisis with Noumu, everyone got sent to different areas but in groups, and when Stain attacked, he had Iida and was able to contact Todoroki. While it was clear things would head this way, it's still nice to see Kota warming up to Midoriya, and we feel much like him as we see the latter get repeatedly pummeled, only to stand up again to protect the boy. Their is some tension in the forest due to the students being cut off from everyone and in a strange gas, but they are at least together. The remaining Pussycats hold their own as the situation sets up a mystery with Ragdoll not responding. Though I've read the manga, it will certainly be fun to watch how the heroes take care of the situation and keep the students safe.
