Aware of Entrapta's survival, Glimmer and Bow set out to rescue their friend, while Adora tries to restore the source of Light Hope's power.
THe Horde has moved into Entrapta's home of Dryl, where Catra has to help Scorpia out of the labyrinth castle as two unseen people run away.
She-Ra successfully defeats a training exercise by turning her sword into a grappling hook, but Light Hope says she needs to incorporate Swift Wind in training now. Adora is less than enthused, but LH says this will improve her attacks and that her connection to the steed is an important aspect of being She-Ra. Swift Wind enters, and as LH says it's time to begin the training and become one, she glitches out. Bow shocks Glimmer with news of Entrapta's survival, believing her to be a captive. Glimmer is upset about having left Entrapta, but decides they have to rescue her. He says walking into the Fright Zone would be the same mistake as before, but she shows him the Horde has Dryl; they think the Horde is forcing her to use her own lab. Bow wants to get help from the others, but Glimmer reminds him Adora is training and doesn't want to risk any other princesses like before. Back in the citadel, Light Hope returns, confused at Adora and Swift Wind's terror, and they say how she glitched out. Saying she'll probably have to cancel the training, she reveals she needs to rest because Mara's destruction damaged the watchtower, her connection to her mainframe, leaving her running at a fraction of her full power. Light Hope glitches again when Adora decides to fix the watchtower, so the girl leaves with Swift Wind.
Bow and Glimmer invade Dryl, which is still difficult to search. Catra walks by and gets a call from Kyle that one of Entrapta's inventions is going haywire.
Thinking the Horde is hurting Entrapta, Glimmer attacks, showcasing newfound combat skills against Catra and Scorpia. The captains are able to keep up with her and Bow, however, so he convinces Glimmer they need to escape into the castle with Catra in tow. Glimmer becomes frustrated as the confusing castle takes them back where they started, and Catra attacks, leaving Bow without a clear shot. She gets dragged along when Glimmer teleports them out, and Bow catches her with a trick net arrow. Swift Wind annoys Adora with a song about their journey, and though she sees only grass, he says he senses the watchtower and suggests they combine powers. Adora turns down his offer, so he asks what's wrong, and though she claims she's more focused on LH than him, he reminds her he's attuned to her emotions. He badgers her with questions so she demands time to focus, and as he goes for a flight, she notices floating rubble with tech lines. Bow and Glimmer argue about how to handle Catra, with the former thinking taking a hostage isn't something the good guys should do. Glimmer decides to take her back to Bright Moon and demands to know about Entrapta; Catra plays dumb, then "recalls" the princess they "left to die." Catra refuses to stand, so Glimmer wants to teleport them all, but Bow points out how far Bright Moon is and that they could end up stranded with Catra, who hears him. Adora transforms into She-Ra and tries to repair the tower, but nothing happens when she touches the stones with her sword, so Swift Wind starts singing again.
Catra fakes a stumble to get Bow away from Glimmer, and after mocking their views on friendship, refuses to tell him about the younger Adora.
He instead tells her how close he is to Glimmer, and after confirming she's his best friend, Catra flings herself at him, hurling them off the cliff. Glimmer wants to let Catra fall, but Bow points out that would include him, so Glimmer teleports them to the water below, then has to teleport again as they approach a waterfall, leaving her exhausted. Catra mocks her, so Glimmer drags the captain along, but Catra licks her arm, then activates a distress beacon when Glimmer tosses her and tells Bow to get more rope. This signal alerts Scorpia, who was freaking out about her friend, and drags along Lonnie and Rogelio. Swift Wind tries to help She-Ra focus, but only annoys her. She says he's not taking things seriously and tries to lasso a piece of rubble, but it just pulls her along. Glimmer and Bow fail to find a way to silence Catra as she taunts them, but Glimmer irks her by saying Adora ran away from her, not the Horde. Catra snarls that Adora will do the same to them, then Scorpia arrives with Lonnie and Rogelio, ordering them to stay still. Adora tries to lasso all the ruble pieces together, and when this doesn't work, Swift Wind joins in, but she becomes angry and everything falls apart. Adora and Swift Wind must work together if they hope to repair the watchtower, and with Entrapta's life seemingly on the line, Bow and Glimmer are in a stalemate.
Now one thing that stuck out to me with this episode was the strange bickering between Bow and Glimmer about taking Catra hostage.
A theme of their journey was the idea of the good side needing to be "better" than the Horde, a pretty typical thing for hero stories. However, this isn't the right moment for that, as simply taking Catra hostage isn't evil, it's just a smart move in war, which they've done before! The two believe the Horde is torturing Entrapta, which is what the focus for taking a hostage seems to be this episode, but they're not planning to do so themselves. From what viewers have seen, taking Catra hostage is an itelligent move, because she's the reason the Horde is doing well. Along with being a Force Captain, she's serving as Hordak's right hand, is the most capable soldier, and was the strategist behind moves like the Battle for Bright Moon. Sure, Entrapta supplies the Horde with their weaponry and bots, but without Catra, they're down an important tactical mind, so even keeping her away from her forces is a good move, without the Alliance needing to do anything else. Back to another point: they've taken a hostage before. One of the first episodes of the series saw Bow and Glimmer taking Adora hostage, and it wasn't a problem then. Just like here, the two were capturing an enemy, weakening the Horde's standing and improving their own, and they were fine with it, even if Bow quickly trusted Adora. Because of this, Bow's arguments against capturing Catra make no sense, because it doesn't put them on par with the Horde. As smart as he is, Bow also shows his naive side this episode, allowing Catra to trick him with honeyed words. Fortunately, Glimmer is the exact opposite, knowing she can't trust the captain and doing what she can to keep her moving, even if Catra's words annoy her. She almost manages to turn things in their favor, as well, when she declares that Adora ran away from Catra, not the Horde. Though Catra is most often the one using the relationship as a sensitive subject against Adora, it's clear the situation still bothers her as well. I liked the comedic relief of Swift Wind in this episode, as he doesn't intend to annoy Adora, but her fears about the mission make her irritable. He doesn't seem to take the mission seriously, but I feel it's more that he just handles the stressful situation in a different way from Adora. Whereas she worries and stresses out, Swift Wind decides to crack jokes and stay positive, and is the one suggesting they try to bond like Light Hope said. Swift Wind's positive attitude works to counteract Adora's fears, and he can be the one to calm her down when she needs it. This can go with what Light Hope was saying about them being connected. Swift Wind can counter all Adora's worst qualities and help her develop. What I don't get with this is Adora's reluctance to get closer with him, as even if he's quirky, her current fear is based around Mara's mistakes, and Swift Wind can be the key to keep her from going down a similar path. Another aspect I found funny that worked out in a way I expected was Light Hope repeatedly freezing up while talking to them. The first time it happens, she is completely unaware until they tell her, and I assumed this would happen after the duo inevitably fixed the tower. I also liked how we see Catra's manipulative side with more people this episode than just Adora, as well as her intelligence. Glimmer is wary of her, but she still plays her and Bow like fiddles for the most part, in particular when it comes to Entrapta. She realizes quickly they've misinterpreted what's happening with their former friend, and uses it to her advantage after they capture her. Because of how they care for Entrapta, she is able to push their buttons to prolong the trip, and make Glimmer waste her energy. Catra really holds all the cards the entire time, as she knows that along with Entrapta being a weak point for the two, she's better off if they think they can trade her. If they knew Entrapta was working for the Horde, they'd have more incentive to get her back to Bright Moon quickly and keep her. They could use her as a bargaining chip for something bigger, or just keep the Horde from attacking, but as they don't know about Entrapta, they hope to trade her away. Because of this, as long as she can get Scorpia and the others to their location, she has a chance, as she can force them to release her on the notion that Entrapta could be tortured, and if they do trade her, they do so without getting anything back. Catra manages to play Bow and Glimmer in this episode, but Adora makes great strides in improving as She-Ra, which will be massively important, and now Light Hope is in better shape as well, which is another plus for the alliance.
