When an effort to prove Santa isn't real leaves the fat man out of commission, Jimmy takes it upon himself to deliver the Christmas presents.
For Christmas show and tell at school, Carl brought a bag with a single disgusting cheese snack from his offering to Santa the year prior.
Jimmy asks how Carl knows his parents didn't eat the others; Carl says they are on a diet that doesn't allow such things. When Jimmy asks Miss Fowl if they can talk about the impossibility of Santa Claus, she tells Jimmy not to be a Scrooge and decides to tell them about the holiday. She begins a song talking about sitting by the fire with a drink, and Cindy and Libby join in talking about gifts you can get. Jimmy counters that he just wants something real, Carl says Christmas joy should be the #1 goal, and Sheen reveals he was bitten by an eel the previous summer. Out in the city, Sam talks about treats for kids, and two cops talk about punks who become festive during the Christmas season. Jimmy is still skeptical, listing the issues with Santa, and the others finish the song saying to not spend so much time considering the science, rather than warmth, of Christmas day. Sheen requests they do a Salsa song about Arbor Day, and Jimmy continues with his questioning, asking Carl how Santa could be real, claiming he isn't real when Carl can't provide any answers. This upsets Carl, and the others become angry, saying he didn't have to hurt Carl's feelings; he decides he'll have to ask elsewhere. Hugh tells him Santa of course exists, but he describes an inspector, so Judy tells their son you can't prove with science; he exists in our hearts. Jimmy calls Sheen and Carl over to his lab, where he apologizes and explains he didn't want the latter to be disappointed by impossible wishes like he was. He reveals that the previous year, he asked Santa for a core sample from a dwarf star, but didn't get what he wanted; Sheen laughs and claims Jimmy was just naughty. Annoyed, Jimmy runs an experiment showing Reindeer couldn't fly, but the others counter that Santa's are magic and laced with jet fuel. He disappoints them again by saying there can't be a Santa, but when Carl accidentally sits on Jimmy's scanner, it picks up a strange festive pattern. The only thing in his back pocket is the cheese snack from class, which Sheen becomes sick from eating after claiming the snacks have Santa's energy. Though snacks can't have DNA, Jimmy realizes there might be saliva on them, and though he doesn't want to, the others decide they need to go to the North Pole to scan for the same reading.
Cindy and Libby are opening presents early when they notice Jimmy outside; they decide to record when he inevitably embarrass himself as revenge for hurting Carl.
When they go for a closer look, they get sucked into his hyper cube, stuck joining the trip with all his other shrunken things. The group goes to the North Pole, and though Jimmy says no one is there, Sheen points out a sign for Santa's workshop, and Jimmy picks up the holiday signal again. Cindy is meanwhile becoming annoyed in the hyper cube, and Libby manages to free them by blasting her CD. The others find what appears to be the workshop, and though Jimmy says it could be a military outpost, Sheen points out it's made of candy. The doors open to reveal Santa's workshop, full of candy, toys, and elves, who are busy preparing for Christmas. Carl asks a lead elf about Santa and learns he's busy getting ready for Christmas the next day; Jimmy says there's obviously no Santa and the factory is a sham. He decides parents must order presents from here and says the elves, or "diminutive helpers," as the managing one corrects, are simply short guys with ear problems. When Jimmy pulls out his scanner, it overloads, sending out a burst of energy that hits Santa, causing a red alert that his atoms have been scrambled. Jimmy claims this is just them having blown the lid off the group's operation, and the lead elf angrily states they now have no one to deliver the toys. Cindy and Libby get this on camera, pointing out that Jimmy has now ruined Christmas for everyone, and as she lists her plan to fix things, Jimmy notices a rocket, which he uses to blast the duo back to Retroville. Jimmy decides he'll deliver everything, as proof that there is no Santa if a kid can deliver the toys with science.
Back at Jimmy's house, his parents are still decorating when they see a news report about how Jimmy has ruined Christmas, revealing Cindy and Libby's footage.
Judy realizes everyone will hate Jimmy, so Hugh decides to create a new pie-themed holiday for everyone to love, combining "pie" with "Yule" to create "Pule." At the Norh Pole, Jimmy tells the lead elf that he has changed up his rocket to have become more powerful with the sonic vibrations of a jingle bell Sheen holds, and given Goddard a new special nose to help out. Carl finishes putting all the toys in Jimmy's hyper cube, and though the elf says they'll never make it, Jimmy claims to have figured everything down to the nanosecond. Goddard's navigation system kicks in as Sheen starts ringing the jingle bells, and they head for Norway. Hugh has somehow already prepared a group of pies to start his holiday, having decided that good kids get apple or cherry, and naughty ones get mints. He is sure this will help Jimmy, as everyone will be too busy celebrating Pule to care, and goes into a song about the holiday. Jimmy and the others come to the first house, where Sheen argues demanding the present, an Ultra Lord toy, which makes it down the chimney as Jimmy chides him, saying they only have a limited time left. Hugh and Judy go around the neighborhood with their pies, but when Hugh enters a house with one, he gets beaten up. As Jimmy's group heads around the world, Hugh laments that his holiday was a failure, and she says Presidents Day can make things better. Jimmy is pleased that they're right on schedule, and though Carl is happy they've delivered everything, he's upset that people will stop believing in Santa. Sheen brings up how popular they'll be in Retroville, causing Jimmy to realize they haven't stopped there yet and are almost out of time. He pulls out their one chance, but in science, failure is always an option, and it's going to take a miracle to make sure Christmas happens as scheduled this year.
This special was one I wasn't as into as a kid as I was some others, mostly because of Jimmy's attitude that got worse with time.
Of course there was always an aspect to the show that Jimmy felt apart from everyone else, since he's so much smarter. Much like with Bloo in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, however, I over time started to dislike him due to his often stuck-up attitude. Here, he ends up ruining people's fun with Christmas due to his negative perceptions about Christmas and disbelief in Santa. He does have a reason for feeling like this, since he was in the classic case of not getting what he wanted for Christmas, but he did have a rather ridiculous desire. As logical as Jimmy is, he doesn't seem to find it strange to ask Santa for something as extreme as a dwarf star core. In a way, it's rather surprising that he wouldn't believe, as this world seems to be similar to Johnny Bravo in that everyone else does believe and it's so easy to see Santa. Jimmy and his friends go to the North Pole and find it within seconds, and the elves they see inside aren't at all surprised and are more than willing to share info. Hugh gets his typical comical idiocy in this episode, deciding that a good alternative to Christmas would be him delivering pies to people everywhere. Obviously this was bound to fail, but it's still funny to see exactly what happens when he invades someone's house. While Jimmy is ruining the fun and magic of the holiday, it's also interesting to see how he manages to almost complete the holiday using science, since he and others do point out how strange it all seems. Like other specials, this episode is coated in Christmas, with screens taking on a holiday appearance, plenty of things decorated for the season, and of course taking a peek at Santa's workshop. It's not my favorite holiday special, but it's fun to see Jimmy struggle to prove Santa's not real despite overwhelming evidence against him.
