With the wedding back on schedule, Zøg plans to use Elfo for an eternal life elixir, and Bean plans to stop the wedding. With Bean and the others having leaped from the cliff, the blind ogre goes for the nights, saying he smells fear, but Merkimer says he was merely born afraid.
As the knights get tossed around and Merkimer cowers on the side, the Washmaster arrives to convince everyone to calm down, only for the ogre to drop him from the cliffside as he hums. Below, we see Bean holding a branch, pondering marriage or death, with Luci encouraging her to drop and Elfo saying her life is worth living. As the two argue, the branch snaps and the group takes another fall. The knights, in the meantime, escaped the ogre when he wasn't "looking," and Merkimer figures out where Bean should have landed, coming to a stop just as the latter and her group fall on him. He is shocked at Elfo's appearance, thinking it's his own initially, and gets another hit as the ogre falls on him as well. Merkimer leads the group back to Dreamland, where a worker is putting up a sign advertising Elfo. On the way, Merkimer blabs Bean's ear off with his life story, then mumbles agreement thinking she's responding as signs hit her head. Elfo and Luci introduce themselves, but Zøg only cares about the latter, whom he throws in a cage. Bean complains that elves need to sing and dance, so Zøg cuts out leg holes for Elfo. With more mobility, Elfo begins playing and dancing, only to trip and roll away down the stairs. Zøg sends someone to check on Elfo, making a more risqué joke that even he admits to Bean felt weird when he said it. Getting a bath, Bean snaps at Bunty but admits she just doesn't want to get married. In another tub, Odval says they need the marriage to ally with Bentwood, who have money, and another man in his tub notes that no one else is trying to marry her. Zøg, meanwhile, meets with Sorcerio (Billy West), who, though unintentionally destroying an ancient book, says there could be truth to magic in elves blood, believing it could be used for an elixir of life. After turning Elfo around to he doesn't peep, a changing Bean says she simply can't marry Merkimer, suggesting, to Luci's joy, that she could kill him. Elfo says she's not a murderer, having only killed Guysbert, but we see him back in the throne room, saying he's actually still alive. Elfo convinces Bean to have a drink before deciding, sad that she's now clothed and disgusted upon learning Luci is always naked. Sorcerio comes in and takes Elfo, so Bean and Luci leave for a poison shop, only for Bean to decide she can't go through with murder. The two leave, with Bean saying she could rub a sick chicken on Merkimer, but sees a cuckoo clock and ultimately decides to send him on a cruise to mermaid island, where he'll be lured away. Back in the castle, Sorcerio extracts some of Elfo's blood and tries it on a Lord Lingonberry, only for the man to die before anything can happen, so they dump his body to some pigs outside. Sorcerio determines they need more blood, and has his assistant begin draining Elfo, who comments that his "brain feels dry." Bean goes to Merkimer to suggest a "bachelor party" to Mermaid Island, with him ignoring most of what she says but agreeing when she and Luci say the mermaids would only be able to lure "weak-minded people." Sorcerio tests more of Elfo's blood on a dead bird to no avail, then studies a droplet and finding microscopic candy particles. Entering, Bean is appalled to see the emaciated Elfo, yelling at Zøg to pick on someone his own size and that she doesn't want him magical like he wants, as he is an arrogant and violent ruler who only cares about himself. Though he can't argue, Zøg demands that Sorcerio get him a full flask of elf blood by the next day, otherwise they'll grind Elfo to a paste. Knowing this sin't likely or safe, Bean, noticing the pigs outside, grabs one and drains its blood instead. Zøg and Sorcerio return the next morning to see the flask and room overflowing with blood, and the king agrees to free Elfo. The group heads to the party ship, with Merkimer happily telling Bean she'll get to know the fun him before having to forever deal with bossy him. Despite the captain telling everyone to drink responsibly, the party of course gets out of hand, with Elfo forced to drink heavily, set on fire, and used as a game bottle. The captain interrupts the party to say everyone should be aware of danger all around, especially as they near Mermaid Island and Walrus Island, noting that they don't want to mix the islands up like he once did. Those on the ship set about tying themselves down or stopping their ears with wax, and Bean learns Elfo failed in the intended plan, which was to leave Merkimer's rope poorly fastened. She then uses her buck teeth to chew through his ropes, and upon hearing the mermaid song, Merkimer breaks free and leaps in the water. He unintentionally finds himself at Walrus Island, and the crew notices the singing has stopped, so they sail on, coming across what appears to be a warship of "Borcs." Realizing the Borcs must be planning a sneak attack on Dreamland, they try to stay quiet, but Elfo, with his ears stopped up, draws attention to them. The crew fires cannons, only to find they launch firework displays, and the Borcs respond by flinging maces that destroy the ship. Bean and Luci try to place blame on themselves, but Elfo says they both got everyone killed, and as the Borcs continue the onslaught, Merkimer suddenly arrives and destroys the attacking ship with a horde of Walruses. Everyone makes a different discovery upon returning triumphantly, and as Bean starts resigning herself to her fate, a surprise bit of magic changes the situation. This episode gives us much more action than last time around, as Bean tries everything she can think of to get rid of Merkimer. We get small touches throughout the improve the comedy in the show, such as a "help wanted" sign going up at the poison shop after the worker who helped them offered a poison so potent the flask can't be held by bare hands. Some surprising moments are used occasionally, like Merkimer being smart enough to be in place just in time for Bean's fall, only to then have the ogre land as well. It's hard not to feel bad for the happy-go-lucky Elfo in this episode, as despite his positive and trusting demeanor, he finds himself a frail victim as Sorcerio drains him. The results of the blood tests only show that, while he is apparently on the right track, Sorcerio doesn't know how to make use of the magic, as the only reaction he got from anything was a slight twitch from the dead bird. We see Bean taking drastic action against Merkimer, ultimately wanting to lead him to mermaids, but in spite of Luci pushing her to just murder the man, she's still not going as dark as he wants, not being okay with murdering her planned fiance. We see even more of her rebellious nature in this episode than before, as she is willing to do more than just disobey her father when she berates him, saying he is violent and only cares about himself. Merkimer also shows more of his character in this episode, as obviously he is a very self-absorbed person, but he is apparently able to figure out exactly where Bean fell from a cliff and later shows off some battle prowess. For now, he's like I initially thought: similar to Zapp Brannigan, but at the same time, there is a hint that he could develop into a more interesting character, given the few positives in his attitude thus far and this episode's ending. Luci is, obviously, still very much the same, but we get a slight change in Elfo already, as at one point he is eager for a character to do something that will be bad for them. So far, the show feels, in a way, like a coming-of-age story, mostly of course with Bean, who is trying to figure out who she is and what she wants. At the same time, however, Elfo and Luci are likely going to go through a similar change as they travel with her, especially Elfo as he experiences the harshness of the world. Whatever changes come, I say bring them on, because this is a rather creative and fun show with only two episodes, and I'm happy to watch more.
